Koninklijk Nederlands Aardrijkskundig Genootschap (The Royal Dutch Geographers Association), shortly KNAG, is there for all geographers, geography teachers and those who feel connected with geography. The association was founded in 1873 and has more than three thousand members, varying from researchers, to teachers and students.
The KNAG used to be known for its expeditions to unknown areas. It still owns an archive with thousands of authentical maps, original expedition pieces etc. Right now, the KNAG is focussing on the development on the subject of geography in primary and secondary schools, it tries to find the connection between education, research, the business world and geography put in practice. Apart from this, KNAG owns the website geografie.nl and publishes two magazines: Geografie (Geography) and the Tijdschrift voor Economische en Sociale Geografie (Magazine for Economical and Human Geography)
